James Ensor Ostend, 1860° - 1949†

James Sidney Edouard baron Ensor (Ostend, April 13, 1860 - there, November 19, 1949) was a Belgian painter of Symbolism. He is widely recognized as the latest innovator of modern art in Belgium, a deviant individualist who was not easily accommodated in one or another art direction. He was also a composer and writer.
